Increasing Production and Market Share of Calcium Magnesium Nitrate Fertilizer
On the evening of May 21, the 2024 work meeting of the Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association’s Calcium Magnesium Nitrate Fertilizer Subcommittee was held in Changzhi, Shanxi. The meeting aimed to summarize experiences, build consensus, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the industry. The event was attended by Wang Xiangqian, Vice County Chief of Jiaocheng County, Zhang Fuping, a member of the Party Working Committee of the Jiaocheng Economic Development Zone Management Committee, and leaders from various departments including the Jiaocheng County Industry and Information Technology Bureau. Over 50 representatives from member units and related upstream and downstream enterprises also participated.
Wang Xiangqian highlighted the collaboration between the Calcium Magnesium Nitrate Fertilizer Subcommittee and the Jiaocheng Economic Development Zone Management Committee. Over the past year, they have organized promotional events in Wuhan, Shanghai, and Taiyuan, guided enterprises in completing and releasing multiple industry standards, and significantly enhanced the national influence of the local nitrate fertilizer industry. These efforts have increased public recognition of calcium magnesium fertilizers.
Wang expressed hope that the industry will accelerate innovation in nitrate fertilizers to meet the demand for green and high-quality agricultural development. He emphasized the need for developing specialized, precise, unique, and new products to advance the high-quality growth of the calcium magnesium nitrate fertilizer industry. Additionally, he urged companies to focus on export strategies, align with policies, and gather necessary information to expand their presence in overseas markets. Wang called for enhanced cooperation between the subcommittee and the development zone and increased exchanges with domestic and international industry peers to collectively drive the growth of the calcium magnesium nitrate fertilizer sector.
Li Tengfei, President of the Calcium Magnesium Nitrate Fertilizer Subcommittee, remarked that the subcommittee, established in September 2019, has weathered significant challenges including market fluctuations, the prolonged pandemic, product homogenization, and policy changes. Despite these obstacles, the calcium magnesium nitrate fertilizer industry has seen robust growth, with annual increases in production and sales and expanding market share, indicating a bright future.
Li highlighted the strengthened guidance and support from government development zones, leading to greater recognition of new and efficient calcium magnesium fertilizers among users. Products such as calcium nitrate, calcium ammonium nitrate, and calcium magnesium nitrate, known for their good water solubility, are becoming market hotspots. Through product innovation and technological improvements, calcium magnesium fertilizer companies have enhanced their competitiveness, contributing to the high-quality development of the industry.
The subcommittee actively organized member units to participate in various fertilizer industry meetings and exhibitions, promoting nitrate calcium magnesium fertilizers and nitrate compound fertilizers from multiple perspectives. These activities have provided valuable experience and guidance for future work. Over the past year, the subcommittee and its members participated in events such as the "First Shanxi Specialty Town Investment and Trade Expo," the "2023 International Chemical Exhibition," the "Shanxi Brand Silk Road Chemical Promotion Meeting," the "23rd China International Agrochemical & Crop Protection Exhibition," and the "24th National Fertilizer Information Exchange and Product Trading Conference."
Li Tengfei reported that the subcommittee has made breakthroughs in the experimental results of modified calcium ammonium nitrate compound fertilizers, achieving ideal outcomes. In early 2023, the subcommittee collaborated with Henan Agricultural University, the Shanxi Agricultural Bureau, and the Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences to conduct relevant experiments and discussions on calcium ammonium nitrate products. These experiments, focusing on improving saline-alkali soil properties and increasing crop yields, showed that modified calcium ammonium nitrate compound fertilizers significantly enhance corn growth and yield under various conditions.
Looking ahead, the subcommittee will continue to promote innovation and green development within the industry. Key priorities include driving technological innovation, enhancing product development, promoting environmentally friendly practices, and strengthening industry collaboration to achieve sustainable growth and high-quality transformation.
Li Tengfei emphasized that the development of the calcium magnesium nitrate fertilizer industry is a long-term endeavor with vast market potential. Despite rising international shipping costs, exports have continued, underscoring the inherent value of these products. To further expand domestic and international markets, companies need to focus on product promotion and customer service.
